The Emerging Markets Program Annual Symposium takes place each year in April. This event merges two key initiatives of the Emerging Markets Program: the Clifton Wharton Emerging Markets Award and the SMART Program poster presentations and reception. This wonderful event provides students, faculty, community partners, donors, and the broader Cornell community with a forum for reflections and discussions on engaged learning and global engagement.

The Wharton Award features a presentation of the Dr. Clifton Wharton, Jr. Emerging Markets Award, which is given to an individual who has made a profound impact on low-income communities through their work on public policy, private strategy, or philanthropic investments.

The SMART Student Poster Presentation & Reception provides SMART fellows the opportunity to share their project posters while also sharing their learned experiences and contributions to the community partner and program.
