2018: Dr. Uma Lele

Dr. Uma Lele has been driven by a desire to inform public-policies based on rigorous empirical evidence. A renowned development economist and scholar, she completed her postgraduate studies in Applied Economics at the University of Chicago and Cornell University. Uma has made enduring contributions to policy and international development strategies from the World Bank, US universities and many international organizations. Her work has impacted millions of lives, especially women, in developing countries. Uma has received numerous awards including the Distinguished Alumnus – Cornell University (2007).
